I did check the flow thru the radiator today and it is good. That's why I am wondering if it really is overheating. I had the same kind of problem on my 57 Tbird and it was in fact a faulty gauge. It's really turning into a bugger of a deal.

I had a similar problem with my 71. I had a leaking radiator and after replacing it and filling the system the gauge kept showing hot and the fan would not turn on. I found the front sender in the head didn't have a good connection. I repaired the wire and viola! No more pegged needle. I did check the head and radiator temp with an infared gun to see what the temp really was.

My car is a 78 124 Spider.

There is a T at the top/front of the engine. It emerges from a hole in the cam belt cover.

Does that T use a gasket? If not, what is the proper way to seal it?

Thanks very much.
