i had a bolt fall onto my v-belt 10 days before FFO 2007, when i as planning on leading a caravan of Fiats to Pennsylvania. NO WAY !! the resulting damage of that wee bolt was to travel from the v-belt into the alternator pulley and shatter the pulley.

those shrapnel pieces punctured the radiator i had JUST installed six weeks earlier.

right.... just my luck.

No man that's good luck, it broke in your drive way! Bad luck is when both of your motors on the boat go out and your half way between Florida and the Bahamas! Any time your junk breaks at home instead of when you are out is good luck in my opinion.

It also gives you a great reason to get on the site and talk to everyone. My car gives me lots of reasons to get on here and talk to all my friends. :D

Yes, perhaps this time my freaking luck was a little better than your freaking luck. :mrgreen: Thanks for cheering me up guys. On the plus side. I really did learn a lot about the car. For example;

I now know how to find TDC :roll: (not that it's hard but finding it and double checking it with a long skinny stick makes me feel much better about the markings - plus, I hilited them with some white paint dots).

And, Jason showed me the lobe on the fuel pump and how it can hit the crank when the timing belt breaks :shock: . (I may take it out and cut that lobe off and then go to an electric fuel pump).

Plus, I now know how to switch out a timing belt :P . What an easy job really. I think I can have it done in about 15 minutes from here on out as their is plenty of room to just snake that thing on with only removing the timing fork bolt and lostening the tension berring bolt.

Finally, it gives me an opportunity to cut that timing belt cover into 2 separate peices so I don't have to flush the coolant everytime I need to look under it. :mrgreen:

So maybe, just maybe, this time my cup was half full.
