I am glad you got your issue resolved that would have driven me soo insane! While reading this thread I got to thinking,, I had thought I had read somewhere that it's normal for our Dizzy caps to shock the hell out of you, I have to adjust my timing with welding gloves, now I am wondering if I need to address this issue, sounds like it, so is this normal or abby-normal?
I drove someone else's 78 1800 and it seemed to have a lot more power than mine.... I am wondering if this might be part of the issue maybe??

Well Denise I thank you once again! This is good news! I'll replace the cap!! I have learned that always question if I have the correct part before replacing it. Do I have the correct cap on now? I have the one that has the five towers all in a row.. Mine is the dual point setup 1978.
