Thanks for the nice comments.
nice touch on the heating control knobs. i didn't think to do that on mine. how difficult was that part?
I used 1/4" wood for the front and 1/8" for the backing. I made the pieces oversized for ease of handling. I put a recess in the 1/4" piece to fit over the control levers. on my first try I didn't cut the recess large enough. I then glued the two pieces together and sanded to the final shape and finished them. The reason behind making them wasn't for asthetics, I only had one of the original plastic knobs and couldn't find replacements anywhere.
