Mate your car is looking absolutely fantastic, probably better than when it came out of the factory! Where in aus did you source your RHD headlights from? Just found out that mine still has LHD lights in it

I'll be doing this sometime in the future, but I was wondering , If the front cross member is removed, can the engine and tranny be installed as one assembly? or is it too much of a pain to put the cross member in if the engine is hanging in the engine compartment? (I'm assuming installing a stripped crossmember, no suspension)

I sort of did exactly that with mine! Engine, trans and cross-member were installed from underneath the car to avoid scratching anything by going in from the top. I used an engine crane and held the body high in the air with safety jack stands just in case, and slid the engine assembly underneath on a creeper, but any sort of dolly would do the job.

not a difficult job, i would imagine, as you said once the engine is hanging. Not seen this done before that way, but can't see why not.

i discovered, that once the rear axle / engine and box are removed, the bodyshell can be easily lifted by hand, so it's possible....

I noticed earlier in you restoration post the emergency brake hardware, did you just replate the original parts of go with new? This is the stage I'm at, just getting into the inspection and formulating a plan of attack. I'm like the look of your early style bumpers and front signal lights and plan on cutting them in on my '78.5.
Phenomenal job on your restoration, I hope mine looks as good.

Apart from the cable all the parts are the originals. Steel parts (like the brackets, rods) have been sand blasted to remove any corrosion, inspected and then zinc plated. Rear calipers are the originals, but were taken apart and re-furbished with new pistons and rubbers. To be honest i found that unless you buy new parts from reputable source best to stay with original parts. New repro parts (far east copies) just don't last, especially electrical bits.
Thanks for your comments let us know how you are progressing.

Love the jig by the way! wish i had that!
