Dash clock repair...
Re: Dash clock repair...
My clock is done! Nick said, the mechanism was toast and he had to replace it with another one. He also put a new black bezel, glass, and new clock face and hands. He did a great job! He sent me a photo shoot worth of pics, here's a couple of them.

Yup, I've got one too...bad that is. The gear to set the hands is stripped. Fortunately Arizona does not observe daylight savings time and I can take advantage of FIAT's innovative back up devise for setting the clock. Just have to wait for the correct time to come around before reconnecting the battery.ga.spyder wrote:Its amazing how many bad clocks were/are out there!Nick is the man.
When I get to the interior, and if Nick hasn't grown tired of it by then, I will definitely ask him to get the clock working right.

Re: Dash clock repair...
Fiat218, To remove the bezel you'll need to uncrimp it from the body of the clock. It's very soft aluminum, and aged, so it has to be done slowly and carefully. Use a small, narrow flat bladed screwdriver and slowly work your way around, unbending the crimp a little at a time. If you're careful (and lucky) you should be able to get it. If you don't want to take the chance of ruining it though, you may want to consider sending it to Nick for a refurbishing.

I would say save your time and money and just send it to Nick. If you do get the trim rings off without breaking the lens. It probably won't go back on unless you glue it. Especially using a screw driver. It your replacing the trim rings like I did with the chrome stainless ones. They aren't as soft as the original and are harder to fold over the casing. I made a tool to take off the rings that works like a can opener would. You twist it and the ring just opens up. Still I wasn't able to reuse the same rings without gluing them. I also broke one lens putting on the new rings. I was lucky I had a spare. You'll wish you had sent them to Nick half way doing all your gauges.

Re: Dash clock repair...
Hi Tom,
When Nick restores your clock all of your gauges are going to look kind of tired. He just restored all the gauges in my wifes Spider. Put them in yesterday. They came out great. I email you some pics. George
PS. Stuff arrive yet?
