Can I reuse the alternator belt if I take it off?

Putting my plastic timing belt Cover back on now as I did the cut it in half mod and painted it. I need to take the alt. belt off to get the lower part of the cover on. As the belt is only two months old, will it be ok to reuse the belt or do I have to buy a new one?

Yes, its ok. Some guys and gals are probably running around with 30 year old V belts. It's not like the timing belt, if it breaks the only things that will happen is loss of alternator and water pump. You can reuse that belt almost forever.

I've taken mine off quite a few times with no issues. Inspect it when you get it out. If its still in good shape reuse it. If its old and cracked I would replace it.
