Non-emissions cars and respiratory irritation?

Post by Redline »

It's been literally three decades since I drove or rode in a non-emissions controlled car (although some of my early cars could probably be considered "emissions somewhat reduced"). Now with the BC Coupe, I certainly notice the characteristic whiff of Eau de Hydrocarbon, which itself is not necessarily a problem, but I also seem to have a persistent sore throat. Anyone noticed a sensitivity to the exhaust fumes in old cars? Just trying to eliminate possible cause as I diagnose my own "intake" problems (for a change). For all I know, the local sunflowers could also be making more pollen this year...
