Seat Belts - How to Install Correctly??

Can anyone please advise on how to install seat belts correctly in my 1977 Fiat Spyder. I bought the car from a guy in Queensland, Australia and he installed vertical towers coming out of the horizontal rear seat. They look terrible, do not function properly and take up valuable room.

I want to remove the towers and install correctly...I believe they are meant to come out the vertical rear wall..behind the rear seat???

Any photos/instructions and where to purchase new would also be appreciated.
