Loose banging sound as I engage the clutch

Hi,

When I start from a stop, as I engage the clutch, it starts off normally, but as the car starts to roll, I hear a bang-bang-bang coming from somewhere down there. It stops when I fully engage the clutch, but as long as it's slipping (partially engaged) during a start, it's bang bang bang. I haven't had a chance to check out the underside yet as I have just bought the car. I'll try to get more specific soon, but I just wanted to post this to find out your thoughts.

As well as your engine mounts!

Try taking off with your hand on the handbrake lever. I had a problem where the driveshaft centre support bracket was pushing the shaft up near the handbrake lever mount in the tunnel. When idling, no problem, but under load the sfat shifted just enough to hit the handbrake pivot mounts.
