Here is a link to my blog. Follow along if you will. I'm taking a free heap with lots of extra parts from my wife's Aunt and Uncle. My plan is to make it awesome. Hopefully dragging the heap here next week.

Here's the link!

Just got my brakes off. Follow my build at http://fiatspider.weebly.com

I may need someone to come over and look at my car at some point. He took so much stuff off the car, it's hard to tell what's gone, what's old and what needs replacing. Whew!!

i did a rebuild just yesterday in a caliper it was pretty stuck.so i bolted it up to my car and let the mastercyinder push it out
with the help of a friend.
Image
i poped out the piston
Image
cleaned it up with steel wool.and the inside of the caliper
Image
then placed the new seal inside the second grove-use plenty of oil to keep it from ripping the seal
while pushing in the piston
Image
then the outer seal /bleader screws
Image
now its time for the drivers side one
Image
i used degreaser a stainless steel brush and seel wool

Great tutorial!

Sadly for me, I can't use my master cylinder. My brake hoses are all sliced. I used compressed air to get one caliper piston out. The other three are bathing in MMO right now. I will break them free if it kills me! And hopefully I can rebuild them. They sat immobile for around 18 years. I'm hoping they are salvageable. Great pics!

Woo! Thanks for posting. It made me want to go out into the garage and test my piston. After hanging out in the oil bath all night it came loose. I put the brake pad in, put a wood block against it and clamped it down. It took some power, but suddenly it started sliding inward. Which means it's free! Now I just have to wait for everyone to wake up and I'll hook up the compressor to it and give her a push. Wish me luck.

LOL. I don't think I'll find anyone. This one is unstuck now, so I should be able to squeeze it out like I did the other. I poured MMO on the top just now and it drizzled right through this time. Should be penetrating more as we speak.

I need to pick up a metric set of flare wrenches. I only have standards.

Ordered some parts today. Had to use two different vendors because one was out of stock on my caliper rebuild kits. Should have the brakes done shortly after the parts arrive. Then I can start working on the fuel system. For more photos and jabbering, drop by the blog:

Help. I've sent a few emails to vendors. Still waiting to hear back, but I'd really like to place my order asap.

Most of that hose is available at the local jobber store if you need it asap. Bring it in and let them know what the application is and they should be able to help. ie. brake hose from reservoir will have a different lining compared to the hose from the aux air valve and intake plenum.
