Joining in the fun!

Post by blurple124 »

Hey everyone!

I just got a screaming deal on a blue 1978 Fiat Spider that I have named Capricia, which is an Italian name meaning "ruled by whim" or "impulsive", which I though fit nicely.

My car's paint is in pretty rough shape and there are a few issues here and there, but she is structurally sound and the motor runs beautifully!

I will be doing my best to protect her from the cold, salty Wisconsin winters until I can enjoy her in the summertime!

Where about in WI are you?

Wisconsin Rapids here. Better keep her off the roads soon, you know how WI is with salt!

Oh boy! I am in Door County, so hopefully it holds off a bit longer - I have winterization to do before that happens!

Welcome to the forum, blurple124!

I see that it's more of you which have the same trouble with salt as we do over here.

Pictures! Here are some pictures of her that I took while interested in buying. The owner didn't make much of an effort to clean her up before trying to sell, and I think a lot of time was spent outside....

When I got home I spend about 20 minutes with a vacuum cleaner and another 30 polishing and waxing the hood just to test the effect on the paint and It makes a huge difference, though I will need to pay for a paint job eventually.

First things first, she needs new tires and a new top. I'm thinking of going with beige rather than black, any opinions?

(I think I did this right, I'll go back and change it if I didn't)

I'm with gritracing - tan top would look good. I really like that color!

It's going to be a great car when you get it cleaned up.

I know, it seems like very few cars were produced in this color. I have a really hard time finding them if they were.

Like I said, just the little bit of detailing I did made a big difference so I will keep at it.
