Connect This
Connect This
This disconnected yellow (maybe brownish) wire extends from a wiring harness to mid air! Where should it be connected? Alternator? Starter? Elsewhere?

Re: Connect This
Most if not all original Fiat wiring has two colors. Either a base color with a stripe running the length of the wire, or a base color with colored dots along the length.
If its a solid color wire chances are its been added sometime in the cars history. The only way to find out for sure is to chase it and see where it goes.

Re: Connect This
On many Fiats the yellow wire goes to the back of the alternator and connects to the charge excite/indicator light on the instrument panel by way of a relay.
I would download the appropriate wiring diagram for your car to better understand what it should go to.
There is the possibility it was added later but it is also likely that it is OEM. On a '76 Spider there is a yellow with red wire that goes to the alternator for example, which reinforces Matt's statement.

Re: Connect This
After another close examination I believe the wire is OEM because it extends from a group of wires that appear to be a wiring harness. This photo shows it grouped with a red, brown and two black wires. The yellow wire possibly has a silver or gray stripe. How and where does it connect to the alternator? I'm from New Orleans. My IQ is too low to read Brad Artigue's excellent wiring diagrams! Hopefullly this photo with the white background shows more clearly the wires grouped in the harness.
