engine rpms down when lights are on
engine rpms down when lights are on
i'm a "brown wire" graduate. my electrical system works ok, but need to up the rpms to 1100 to compensate for the "down" on engine rpm when headlights are on. the only add on I have is extra lights inside the bumper holes w/relay. I have upgrade from 55amp to 70amp alternator. this car has ac and when on the rpms go down to the point of stall. at one point a vaccum leak was a suspect but that was not the case. Help! do I need more amps? why the rpms go down when lights come on?

What year is your car?
A friend had something similar happen recently and it turned out that his ignition system was not working that well. He upgraded form points to electronic ignition and the problem went away.
