Recently, my Hazard and Turn Signals were not working, and the problem traced out to no 12VDC power at the Hazard Switch. This "04700 SOCKET" that is shown on the schematic below is apparently not in my car and the (2) red wires were left dangling, thus no voltage at the switch. Easy fix, but does anyone know what this "04700 SOCKET" is and where it is located? It appears to be a power takeoff tap, maybe for technician diagnostic use or something? I assume that it should be somewhere near the fuse panel as that is the extent that the (2) disconnected red wires reach, but there is no evidence of anything remotely like this in my car? Thanks in advance for any info you may provide!

Re: SOCKET 04700 AND HAZARD FLASHERS QUESTION
That is possibly the "inspection lamp" socket that is located under the dash to the left of the steering column. There are urban ledgends about a few people having one of these lamps but I have never seen them for sale.
Re: SOCKET 04700 AND HAZARD FLASHERS QUESTION
I agree with GeorgeT - the manual refers to it as an "inspection lamp receptacle" and my '81 has a clear plastic socket-like-thing attached between the fuse box and the clutch pedal. It is pointed vertically downward.

Re: SOCKET 04700 AND HAZARD FLASHERS QUESTION
Thanks for the quick responses, that clears it up well! I don't need an inspection lamp there so it will remain out of my car for the time being. Interesting that the factory would feel the need to provide a inspection lamp socket for the Field and Dealer Techs...
