Greetings From The Sunshine State

Post by Fetti »

Hello! I have been shopping for a Fiat Spider (or possibly Alfa Spider) for a few weeks now. I am trying to get my wife the convertible that's she's always wanted while giving me a little project car as well. While she likely be driving it most of the time, I would still like to enjoy it too. My concerns are that because I'm 6'4", I may not be very comfortable. Can you all help with with leg/head room info? Thanks!!!!

Well I'm 65, 5' 10" (used to be more) and 190 lb (liar's poker). I fit fine and probably have another 4 to 6" of seat travel.

Our Spider's have always had a reputation of having plenty of room for bigger guys. The biggest problem is that the seat backs are weak and and bend and fail. A twisted seat is very uncomfortable. They can be reinforced.

If necessary new foam can greatly improve the seat cusion.

Tall guys fit too. You just have to get used to the Italian arms out driving position. Comes natural after a while. Just the opposite of the NASCAR guys. Man they sit right on top of the wheel, their elbows almost touch the bottom of it.

I am 6'1" and I find it really depends on your frame. I have a 30" inseam and have plenty of room in my 2000.

At 6'2" it fits me fine, but I will admit that I do not like it as much with top up, only top down. Visibility is a little challenged for me with the top up. But come to think of it.... I don't think I have ever driven it with the top up! <{:^)

Just aquired a 124 spider but have been driving Alfas for years. The driving experience is so addictive that many of us would trim a few inches from our legs to better fit if that's what it took! lol. Buy the car (either) and figure it out. It'll reward you greatly.

Thanks for your help guys!! I will continue looking for once close to me so I can at least sit in it first. If you see any good cars/deals out there, a heads up would be greatly appreciated! (I'm in Orlando, btw) Thanks!!!
