Relay help NOW I AM A BONEHEAD

I added relays for Ho & Low beams today. Now I have a) no lights at all and b) parking lights on full time when ignition switch is on.

On a separate note last weekend I had a lot of smoke pouring from the ignition switch. i pulled over, shut down and it stopped. Sat for a few started right up and drove home with no further issue.

I did not check to see if anything was not working after that issue happened. So I dont know if I had lights BEFORE I started the relay job but I would guess that I did and that I made an error on the wiring. More likely a bad connection or something but why would the parking lights be on full time?

FORGOT TO ADD FUSES TO THE POWER DIST BLOCK... IT IS WORKING NOW :oops:

Because they're always getting power. :lol:

seriously though; check everything that get's a constant hot. I would say you are probably correct; you've got a wiring error somewhere.
Go drink some electricians fluid of your preference,a dn then take a second look at it tomorrow.
I'm no Boy-Racer..... but if I can't take every on-ramp at TWICE the posted limit.... I'm a total failure!

you need to address your smoke under the dash issue. My guess is you have a dead short that was a wear spot in the insulation grounding on the frame. If this is the case, it will happen again. Also the insulation will be damaged by the original short. Time to crawl under the dash with a flashlight and look for rub spots on the wiring harness. It wont be very big, like the head of pin. Also look for black soot scoring at the short location. Good hunting

I think I located the spot on the wiring where the insulation burned and you're right Azruss, it is a small spot. Where should I look for the soot? At a ground point somewhere on the frame?
