Pulley swap from Marelli to Bosch Alternator?

Post by ScoopMan »

Has anyone successfully swapped over the pulley and fan from a late 70's Marelli alternator to a Bosch unit? The remanufactured Bosch unit I bought comes with a bare shaft. I got the pulley off the Marelli, but the keyway is different, and I think the spacer is too. Annoying!

I've looked at them before and they did not look compatible...

I would love to if it was available. Most suppliers do not sell remanufactured Marelli alternators, except for Vick, and they want $159. Ouch. There is conflicting info on whether or not one can put a Bosch unit in a car that had a Marelli in it. Some say yes and some say no. I have not found anyone that sells Bosch pulleys.

WTF?

The Fiat parts vendors sell alternators with pulleys, FWIW.
Return the Bosch and see if you can get the Marelli rebuid by a local alternator/starter shop.
