hi all im new here and have been looking around the site for a couple of days i can not find an answer to my problem. i have a 1981 fiat 2000 that i bought in aug .love it. but ... the key was broken off in the ignition.well i got that one out and a lock smith cut me a new one . now that one is broken off also, was not me. anyway i can't get this one out . so thought i would remove the ignition but can't get the key horizontial to push the pin . is there a way i can remove it if i cant get the key to turn?
well a little about me, my first car many years ago was a 1980 fiat spider 2000 . loved it.i was in the army and drove it all over the country traded it in when my son came along and we needed a so called family car. sorry i ever, did have always hoped i would someday get another . this one is in pretty good shape for a new york car nothing that cant be fixed. im thinking that it runs i hope as it has a current inspection sticker on it. i cant get in touch with the original owner, it did't belong to my naboir ,he said it ran so it was worth the risk . am thinking he was not a fiat lover he only had it a year . so when he broke the key off he just got rid of because it was to much to deal with. did hear he wanted to put a push start in it. dont think he knew how. anyway now it is my little project . im hoping to get it going by summer so i can drive out to colorado to visit my kids. i'll try posting some pictures soon. sucks taking pictures in winter. right now its out side have to get it over to the barn as i do not have a garage. tami

Re: ignition
are you located close to New Jersey? there is a great Fiat club in NJ. i'm sure they will be chiming in very shortly and will offer any expertise they have to help you through your crisis. They are a great bunch and helped me a lot when i first got mine.
Re: ignition
thanks i am upstate so nj is several hundred miles . was reading posts last night and i guess i may be able to drill it but dont know that i can with the key in it. also suppose that i will need a drill bit for metal .

You should post this in the electrical section as fewer people check the new member section.
