Hello fellow enthusiasts.
Have had my 78 spider a little less than a week now, and am pretty preoccupied with it and the whole restoration process.
I have this burning desire to get it up and running but I'm trying to slowdown a little and get the most out of this part too.
Actually ,the electrical mysteries are doing a pretty good job of slowing things down for me:>).
I'm glad to be a part of this site and thank you all in advance for the stories, ideas and info.
Cheers.
First time Fiat owner.

Re: First time Fiat owner. Wheel Stud Issues
So thank you for the welcome. I'm trying to navigate my way around this site and figure out how out works.
Someone suggested I should tell a little more about my spider....... I live near Belleville Ontario Canada, and bought the spider from a fellow near Ottawa. It's not running yet, although it has had a fair bit of work done on the engine. All the smog equip . is gone and the head was pulled to install new valves. It has new cams and timing belt , the distributer has the mod. down to one set of points , and it has been cleaned up nicely under the hood.
The body is solid, although it needs a paint job, and the interior is pretty good . Needs a carpet kit , but it came with one:>).
It also came with 3 carburetors . I'm not sure what carb is on it yet, I need to sort that out.
I've been working on the electrical and the brakes and have a wheel stud problem. Several of the front wheel studs have bad threads and need to be replaced but when I've looked up replacements I see only wheel bolts available. My car has studs that come through the hub from the back like domestic vehicles, and have a nut that is put on from the front. Is this unusual? Why can't I find studs like this when I search?
Thanks to everybody for their interest and help. This is a great site .

Re: First time Fiat owner.
Congrats on the new car!
You can post up pictures of the carbs and people here can quickly help you identify them, and help choose which one to use.
The wheel studs are added by someone, but Allison's auto has them. http://www.allisonsautomotive.com/products.html
"WXS-Mag Wheel Lug Stud". Or you can try posting in the parts wanted section and maybe someone has some.

Re: First time Fiat owner. Wheel Stud Issues
That is not factory and if the come from the back someone may have changed the bolt pattern. Measure the center to center of the studs is it 100 or 98 mm. What wheels are on there? steal / Alum ? The wheels maybe stamped with the Bolt pattern as well. They either added those to change bolt pattern or to fix a stripped out hub. To replace you will need to remove one and take to a parts house there to match up. If it still has the Fiat 4x98 I would probably just get some new/used hubs.Sundog wrote:Several of the front wheel studs have bad threads and need to be replaced but when I've looked up replacements I see only wheel bolts available.
