Bonjour from Ottawa

Post by spiderdan »

Hello Spiderites, A few of your members here in Ottawa (tx Jay) told me about FS and suggested I should join. Well I finally got a round 2it and I am looking forward to spending many hours going through this great site and developing some new friendships with Spiderheads.

A bit about my baby....I bought my 68 Spider 7 years ago here in Ottawa. It is a local car and I am the 4th owner. It was stored for about 15 years of its' life (poor girl) and when I got her she was orange (originally rossa red), had a torn roof and blew oil like it was designed to kill moskitoes. But she was all there and all original. Met a great Fiat guy (Canadan) locally and found a great body shop (Milano) and haven't looked back since. She is now back to her original red and just an all round great car. We turned 150,000 miles last fall and I do about 9,000 miles a year going up to the cottage and touring around the city. She needs to, and loves to, be driven.

Thanks to FS I am now learning about photobucket and I will try to post a pic of Angelina. Hope it works. I look forward to meeting and sharing with all of you.

Ciao mes amis.

Hey Jay (fellow frozen chozen)
Good to finally get on line. I have been checking out what you have been doing to your baby over the winter.
Damn impressive bud!
Look forward to seeing her at the next ICCO meeting.

Stay warm

Welcome from the left Coast Dan. We spent 4 great years living in Ottawa in the early '90's. There's some great Summer drives out there. Not so good in Winter, though...

Salut westy64,
Merci pour l'accueil
Y at-il beaucoup d'araignées en France?

Daniel

Thanks for the welcome courtenay
My fav "Spider" road here is the Gatineau Parkway and lucky for me, it's on the way to my cottage. Doesn't get better than that. Although I would love to drive my Spider on the Sea to Sky Highway. Best hamburger I ever had was in Squamish. Love the BC coast. Now about our winter here this year...what ever happened to global warming?

Not many european ones, and more re-imported from the US.
But we don't have a dedicated site like this one (not enough cars remaining in good shape).
A lot of rust as well on these self disintegrating bodies.

Mt. Burger house by any chance? or the "stump" pub in Brakendale?
(lived in Squamish for a number of years after heli-logging the ski runs on Blackcomb)
The new Hwy to Squamish is better than the accident infested goat track before. I haven't driven the spider to Whistler yet, perhaps this June some can find the time for a cruise if the weather cooperates.
Car looks great, I guess you know one recently sold for $48,000.00+ recently eh

Chris, I don't remember the name but it had a big outside deck overlooking the river and the moutains. Even had a few bald eagles looking for scraps. I think I had the "monster burger". It was huge!
$48k for a 69 Spider, I would say it's about time Spiders get the recognition they deserve. They're great cars, or at least mine has been. Here's another pic, (newb testing thang)

Tx Weelan, ya got to love the 124 Spider lines and curves. Classic.

Tx RRoller123, Working on the re-sizing thing. The original photos are all pretty big (I blame my new Canon T3 LOL). Took me many tries just to get my plate as my avitar. Thanks for the 750 hint.

Appreciate all your help, hints and the welcomes.

We have near opposite ends of the spectrum as far as the design goes, but they're both gorgeous! Your freaking wheels make me green in the face.

As far as the pictures go, keep them a decent size ya, but sometimes you just gotta post those HD pics. Especially from the T3. Or put the big size ones on photobucket or wherever and get the resized ones when you post here. Then put a link to your photobucket album in your sig so we can see the high def ones. :D

C'mon Ryan, the designs aren't that far apart. Thin out the bumpers, sand down those hood humps and cut off the headrests are they're almost twins! My car came with the wheels when I got it but it took me 4 years to find the hubs (tx firebreathingfiats)

Ya I know I gotta sort all my pics and organize them on photobucket. Good weekend project, but I will have to get more beers.

What kind of a top do you have ?
Seems like wet-look, you know ?

Is it to play it italian style, with hair grease ?

Pretty much into details, no ?
