FNG in FLA 80 2000

Hey guys,

Picked up a 1980 2000 last week for $1800. Body has a couple dings and a couple paint blisters but nice overall. Frame and suspension are good, one rust spot in passenger floorpan. Engine ran pretty good (enough to get me 45 miles home). Took a few days and lots of elbow grease to detail it and run about a half tank of gas thru it on short jaunts, just listening for "things".

About the time I was starting to gather a little confidence and venture further from home...it started losing power and sounded like a VW. Got it home and figured out #3 was dead. Spark checked good, but I noticed the plug was dry.

Pulled the fuel rail and injectors...Tons of fun there don't cha know... My Vette takes about 10 min to accomplish the same thing with twice as many injectors...(And yes, I saw the Vette LT1 stuffed in a spider, and no I'm not going to do that, anytime soon at least) Anyway, all were at 2.5 Ohms but plugged so bad I couldn't believe it ran at all.

Probably should have changed the fuel filters right away but they looked fairly new. So.... I got some injectors on the way from Rock Auto. $24 per. Also heard a tiny bit of water pump screech, so I got one of them and a timing belt on the way too.

This place has already been a great resource and I appreciate all those that share the passion and knowledge.

I shoulda took pics when it was running... Right now all you would see is a bunch of tools and parts laying around.

Seems to me there are many more of the former than the latter in Fiat Land already.

Parts ought to be here next week. In the mean time I'll just ride the Harley and drive the Vette...
