I have a 80 spider and my mirror is made out of plastic I seen a 79 and it is made out of metal so I was wondering if i had the right one in my car.

I have an 80 with a Metal, but is was broken and bought a newer one which was plastic (the newer one also seem to have les adjustment for a Right Hand driver, it is on its limit

So I guess from the 80 and up where plastic . And from the 79 down they where metal lets hear from some of the 79 owners and correct me if I'm wrong

My 79 came with a plastic mirror.

If you're talking about the central mirror, the 1978 was plastic with a white metal (painted black) mounting. The outside Vitaloni mirror was chrome-plated steel. I believe 79 and later had plastic housings on the outside mirrors.
