Hello all, it is I, Jess. Here's a bit about me:
~I am young. Less than thirty. We will leave it at that.
~I am married and have 3 kids: A 10-year-old girl, a 7-year-old girl, and a 4-year-old boy.
~I'm a girl who is into gaming of all kinds, be it video games, card games, board games, role playing games, LARP, etc.
~I'm also into cars. I adore classic American muscle. My favorites?
*1970-1974 Plymouth Barracuda Hemi in "Sassy Grass." Something about a 7L V8 rumbling down the block does it for me.
*1964-1973 Ford Mustang Fastback in Rangoon or Candy Apple Red or in Grabber Blue. I love the look of classic 'Stangs and can tell them apart by the minor body modifications they did between the years listed above from some distance away.
*1979 Dodge Charger Hemi in Sublime. Again, how can you not love a 7L V8? And in a fastback coupe? /swoon
~I also ALSO like sports. Sundays during football season you can find me cuddled on the couch with my husband under our KC Chiefs blanket. Baseball season is a little harder to enjoy with the husband, as he works weird hours, but we still try to take in games at at least local levels, and prefer to travel to KC and watch the (OMG I know they are horrible, but they are still "our team") Royals. HOCKEY season is where it's at, though.
~I'm a huge animal lover. I have 2 dogs and a tarantula, but my past pets include ferrets, rats, cats, degus, freshwater fish of all kinds, small birds, chinchillas, rabbits, and leopard geckos. Take me to the zoo and you'll get a strangely over-informed personal tour. How many other people do you know that can tell you the names of each of the lions and most of the tigers? How about identify what type of bat flew across the top of the Lied Jungle from a distance? Yeah, I'm strange.
~I was born and raised in the Omaha, NE area, but moved to KC for 3 years so I know that area as well.
~I'm sarcastic as all heck. And, like many women, I am opinionated as all heck, too. I lack a brain-to-mouth filter, so if I ever say something offensive, I probably either don't realize it or don't care, so just tell me to STFU.
Our cars:
2012 Dodge Charger SRT8- Pitch Black. Loaded and luxurious, sunroof, vented and heated seats... All the bells and whistles.
2009 Dodge Caliber SRT-4- Brilliant Black Crystal Pearlcoat. Also loaded, leather, sunroof, and just generally sexy.
Stock it kicks 285 whp and 265 lb ft torque. Ours is modified to throw about 305 to the wheels with about 300 lb/ft. From a stop (0-60) it's not much, but from a roll, it's deadly.
We were recently given (Yes, I know :O ) my darling father-in-law's 1982 Fiat Paninfarina Spider 2000. He had kept it stored for about 12-13 years, so it needs some love. Here are some current(ish) pictures from when it first came out of storage and was still living with him.
And here the little darling is being trailered home:
We've already (since November) put some parts/work into it. It has a new radiator, belts, thermostat. It still blows oil from being stored and not driven much since then and has a slow oil leak. Needs a new top. It is currently having some kind of electrical issues and it won't start from a stand-still, but it will from a roll. I will post more in depth about this in the appropriate sections.
All that being said, it's great to be here and I look forward to asking you all many MANY questions.
Greetings and Salutations!

Welcome to the best place for help, where no question is too simple to ask (if you don't mind the response being a link to an exhaustive thread where it's been discussed before) or too hard to fathom out (there's some great people here who've lived their lives accompanied by these beasties!)

Re: Greetings and Salutations!
Welcome Jess,
As you will quickly find, this forum is chock full of like minded, certifiable, car nuts! You and your husband were blessed...(or maybe cursed )...to be gifted into the wonderful world of Spider ownership. A quick warning - for most, these great little cars get into your blood and you end up "smitten" for life - just look at how many folks on here own or have owned multiple Fiats .
The good news: these cars are easy to work on, parts are plentiful and when you take care of a few known "quirks" they are extremely reliable. You have found the forum/group that can answer ANY Spider related question you could possibly have.
The best part though is the smile it will put on your face every time you drive it.

Re: Greetings and Salutations!
welcome to the other side of the universe. these cars are about as opposite from detroit iron as one can get. Italian cars were born and bred on narrow, twisty, mountain roads with expensive gas and taxes based on engine size. So you end up with small, light weight, small motored cars that can chase down motorcycles on twisty roads. These motors are designed to rev, so dont let 3500 rpms for cruising scare you. Don't expect any of the V8 low end torque and if you spend all your time around 2000 rpms, you will kill the motor. It is a car at its best when your right hand, left foot are busy and your steering wheel moves alot. stop lights....save those for your big gas hogs.
Re: Greetings and Salutations!
Thanks all for the warm welcome. I've been researching one of my issues all day. The Spidey won't turn over at all, but will power on interior lights and radio, and will roll-start. The battery is new, and the starter was replaced right before the car was stored and has less than 100 cranks on it. Sounds like the ignition switch if I am reading correctly, and I am making a list of things I will need for the "Brown Wire Fix" to see if this helps. After that, its time for a top and then she goes for a spin!
