This had been setting for 25 years last run in 1988. Dipstick shown from tank. Believe it or not car still ran on this stuff with a couple gallons new gas added and pretty damn well at that. Put 50 miles on her last fall before winter storage and doing anything to it. All this now discovered. Secondary butterfly shaft frozen. Acorns and molasses came from gas tank. Pick up was out of tank and that's how acorns got in there. Ran the carb through my ultrasonic and came out good. Everything cleaned up well and functioning properly. The tank was much more challenging. Tank was not rusty but seriously, had 1/4" hard gunk in bottom. Simple Green, nothing. Acetone, nothing. Urethane reducer, nothing. Xylene, nothing. Methyl Ethyl Keotone, some luck. Toluene, touched the stuff. Lacquer thinner, Jackpot. That stuff cut all the gunk in a couple hours. Paint stripper was next on the list but didn't need it. Have used trichloroethylene in ultrasonic cleaner before but couldn't find any on the shelf. That stuff works well also. Tank came out very clean. New gas line this week and ready to roll. Carb was missing the secondary idle jet, holder and o-ring. Anybody help me out with them???? Goes in the circled area of pic.
