light bulb removal

Post by mmindling »

Hi, this is Martin in Ohio. My Fiat is a 1981 Spider FI.

My question is regarding the emergency brake warning light. Want to replace the bulb but having difficulty removing the old bulb from the socket. Is there a special way to get the bulb out? The bulb is held in a black plastic square socket
with two wires at the back with what looks like ordinary electrical connectors.

Can't get the bulb to move out of the socket. Don't want to handle this incorrectly because it looks fragile. The wires are not cooperating in terms of pulling them out of the socket.
Also, don't know the configuration of this bulb - screw in, bayonet, pinch bulb or other??

Appreciate any advice.

Regards,

The square warning light assemblies in the center dash use a #153 bulb but many people replace them with a 194 which is brighter Both bulbs have a wedge base and pull straight out of the sockets. The back of the light assembly which contains the bulb pulls out of the front portion. Pull on the Square where the wires attach and the back with the bulb should pull out of the front piece which has the red lens.
I have not tried changing a bulb by removing just he red lens.
Hope this is some help
