83 Spider - was a/c standard equipment?

Hello,

Just curious if anyone knows the truth behind the availability of a/c in a Pininfarina car? I have some old sales advertisements that state a/c was standard but the car on the photo has Fiat badges on it, which is wrong for a Pini car. The reason I ask is because my car does not have a/c nor does it appear to have ever had it. I've seen some other Pininfarina cars without it too, but I'm confused on its availability?

I don't know about an 83, but my first 85 had factory AC. It was in the dash and used the existing vent grills. The 85 I have currently have has an aftermarket unit which did not work and I removed.

AC fitted to my 1983 Pininfarnina ... exported from LA to the UK in 2000. Not ever had it working over here in the UK

AFAIK A/C was always dealer installed, so likely some Pinins had it and some did not. My '83 had it, the 85.5 did not.
