I noticed the alt light burning for most of the day yesterday but forgot to check things out when I got home. Then I drove the car today and it is not lit. Could there be a loose connection or something that might cause a sporadic issue? yesterday when I started the car i noticed it sounded a bit weak like the battery wasnt at full charge. today it started fine...
I will see if it happens again.

Re: Alternator light
Not sure what year your car is but if you have an alternator with the built in regulator like my 81 this is what I would do.
Check the alternator belt for slipping and it's mounting hardware to be sure everything is is tight and ok. Also the alternator output wire that connects to the starter connections at both ends.
The alternator (battery) lite lights by a connection through the alternator to ground. So if the light was lit when you thought it should not be either the wire is shorting to ground between the light and the alternator or its connection is good and not your issue. For it to be lit when you think it should not also tells you it is being powered properly
