1970 project I am undertaking

Hi Everyone! I don’t even know where to start. I guess I’ll start with I know nothing about cars (as of right now)! It has always been something that I have wanted to learn more of but never got the opportunity. I should also say that I have always wanted a small old car (MG, Triumph, ect) but I was not there yet.

HOWEVER, about 8 months ago my neighbor rolled out of his garage a Blue 1970 Sport Spider. It has been sitting there since then just taunting me. I finally asked my neighbor last week what he was doing with it. $250 later I now have it sitting in my garage.

The full story is that he drove it till 81 then parked it in his garage. In 95 he took it out, jumped it, turned it over then put it right back in the garage. He put Marvals Mystery Oil in the spark plugs and in other areas of the engine. The interior looks to be in ok shape. I have not yet gotten under the car to take a look yet.

I know that I have a lot of work ahead of me. I have not yet tried to start it. I will be changing the fluids/oil/spark plugs prior to even trying to turning over. After that I have no clue where to go. I will take some pictures and post them, maybe get all of your feedback.

I have been poking around on this forum for 2 weeks now and it seems to be very helpful once I really get into the nitty gritty of the car. I will take some pics and post them today or tomorrow, maybe you guys can tell me if I’m crazy! My thought, $250 I couldn’t resist!

Well, yeah, you're crazy.

But that goes for a lot of us here so you might as well join the asylum.

So where are you located, and what sort of age bracket would you fit into?

And should we look for you at the next winter olympics, or the Stanley Cup?

So other than the fluids/oil change/spark plugs/timing belt. Is that all prior to trying to start?? Anything else someone would recommend me do?

drain the fuel tank and pour in some fresh petrol. you don't need to change spark plugs or coolant for a test fire

Car was originally purchased new in 69 by family member. Gave it to a friend 17 years ago now I want to buy it back. Got it professionally appraised at $3,500. He also rated it a four. I want to do a really good restore.
*couple of through the floor rust holes on driver and rear right
* engine runs
*all chrome and bezels need rework or replacement

Is this a fair price

Also how do I post photos?
Thanks
