I recently replaced a bad tach on my 81 Spider. I noticed that it is now jumping in the 1K-3K RPM area. It generally is working, but is now always jumping around. Any suggestions?

I think that I have read that it is caused by poor connections or breaks in 2 small wires that send the signal from the distributor?
