"Inherited" a 1977 124 Spyder with no engine or trans, sort of...the bottom half of the engine was in the front seat, the trans was no where to be found, and the exhaust was hanging out on the ground....
The body, however, had been completely restored and is 98.8% rust free....the other 1.2% is minor scale under clutch pedal
You guys are probably going to hear what some of you would consider 'sacrilege", but hopefully some of you will warm up to the ideas I want to do to the car...
cheers

Hello down there.... well one of the first things I'd do is contact "Beek" from the forum here. Sounds like you need an engine, tranny and drive shaft. He might be able to point you in the right direction or put an advert out here under parts wanted and or head to Craig's List. I'd be sticking with original engine choices, either the 1800 or 2L will work.
Some will get a parts car that has good running gear but pooched body. Perhaps one might find something suitable for say....$500.00 or so for a good runner but rusted out..
