Spark plug minor leak

Post by rjkoop »

I noticed that on spark plug number 4 when the engine revs I can see a bit of exhaust / blow-off coming out around the spark plug. It's really difficult to torque that spark plug but I thought I got it tight enough. I haven't removed the spark plug so I'm not sure if there is still a washer on it (I think each spark plug should have a washer, no?). I'm thinking maybe the washer is missing or maybe I have to torque it tighter. Any thoughts on this?

Also for the oil drain plug is there a crush washer? I took the oil drain plug out and I've never seen one like it before.

Spark plug does need a washer. Don't tighten it too much or you will strip the threads.

The stock drain plug does not use a washer as it has tapered threads, but if the oil pan has been replaced then it has a more conventional type of plug that does.

Thanks guys. I'm in the process of replacing the oil, diff and tranny fluids. Once that's done I'll take a look at that spark plug again.

Diff done. Going to do back brakes now. Then tranny fluid next. Just have to get 12mm allen key. Most sets only go up to 10mm.
