Cigarette Lighter Kit

Post by PininF »

It defiantly pays to shop around…was looking to replace my old lighter housing to use for charging my phone and GPS as it was completely rusted out… looking on ebay these things can cost up to $50 including post so I went down to my local auto barn shop..low and behold they sell the identical set… :!:
I'm all done for $12 AMAZING.; :D

Ok just finished installing the new kit… the good news is the lighter works :)
The bad is the small light attachment doesn't :(

Ive ordered a new lower dash light so will get back into it when it arrives.

FI8 , Just spent my winnings on a new box of Beck's...

A personal opinion. If you are in need of a socket to use GPS or phone etc it is much better to install a power receptacle. Cigar lighters have internals that have a tendency to push out the accessory plug. Power receptacles like those installed in new cars are designed for modern accessory cables and will be much more reliable.

i did as Spider 2081 did. I installed a 12v socket outlet in the side board of the back seat. I ran a fused line directly from the battery. This gives me an un-switched, protected power source that is out of the way and doesnt put any additional load on the existing wiring.
