Hi guys: I went and picked up myself a MAJOR project: 69 spider- that is totally trashed in almost every way except-- its not very rusty and seems to have minimum dings. (though how much bondo under the flaking paint i am not sure).
I have had a couple alfa romeo in my past, and briefly even a lancia, but this is my first fiat. I hope to be learning and looking to you all over the coming months and years to bring this old girl out of a deep deep sleep. I am not planning a perfect restoration- more like just get her cleaned up, mechanically sound, and back on the road.
I believe she has the 1600 engine as well, so not original.
I am hoping i can handle the mechanics as I am used to that. will be looking for the major help for the interior- which might as well have caught on fire. it all needs to be ripped out and replaced.

Welcome aboard. The body looks pretty reasonable - but you've definitely got some work ahead of you with the interior!

Welcome aboard! I am new to the boards, as well.
That looks like some fun nights are in your future. I live in Morgan Hill, Ca, so not too far from you.
I've seen that car on CL. Looking forward to the restoration thread.

thanks guys. ill try to keep everyone updated on progress, slow that it may end up being. my usual method is not to plan it out, but just keep my eyes and ears open for deals as they come along so i can keep my costs on the lower side - but does not get things done in a hurry either..
first i will try and get it to run though.
suspiciously in the trunk is a complete set of new engine gaskets - so either he was just being careful or....
