Hello from UK

Post by chrisvega »

Just found this great site and dropping by to say hello from UK.
I'm an Italian car enthusiast and own a couple of Alfas and now looking to add a 124 Spider to the collection.
Hopefully won't be too long until I find the right car.

Chris,

Good luck with your search.

There's a few UK guys that post here.

What's the supply like over there? Do you have many to choose from?

Hello from the colonies...
Where do you hang the hat? As mentioned several from England are on the forum. I believe Scotland has a few as well.
Are you looking local or on the continent as well?
When you find your gem of a car, this is a great place for answers, opinions on just about everything regarding the Fiat Spiders.

Supply is limited over here in UK and still probably cheaper to source from US and import.

FIAT UK sold the 124 Coupe in the UK but never the Spider - FIAT marketing missed a trick as it would have sold well competing against the MGB and the Alfa Spider.

Quite a few US cars were imported in the late 80s - mid 90s but a lot of these cars now need work having been subjected to the British weather for 20 years +

There is one company I know of in UK who specialise in the 124 but prices are pretty high so looking to import myself.

Labour costs at $100+/hour means excellent original or well restored is the way to go - buy on condition. Preference is for a low miles original later model injection car but if the right earlier model comes along wouldn't turn it down. Guess I'll have to join the queue, keep my eyes open and get beating those bushes if that is a saying you still use ?
