Some months back i acquired a used/good ignition switch that i believe i was told came from a 1980 spider.
My '77 came with a cheap generic ignition switch installed in the console where the 12v socket should be. It never worked well as it is a piece of crap installed by a cretin. 7 or 8 blue wires. I shit you not. long have i cursed the PO.
So the other day in my efforts to get the old girl to turn over once more, it was removed with extreme prejudice, and i've been soldering up the new switch.
Red to red, black to black, brown to brown, pink to pink, light blue/black to light blue/black.
I'm left with two wires on each side unattached.
The two white wires coming out of the switch, and on the car side i have blue/red and blue.
Artigue's wire diagrams don't indicate that a blue wire should be in the ignition switch harness on a 77, but indicate that an orange/white wire maybe should be.
On his '78 diagram he shows a blue wire going to the light switch from the ignition. But on the '77 that position is the blue/red wire.
I get that the two white wires are a "key in" switch. But I'm not sure what i should do with the other wires on the car side.
Any hints?

The two thin white wires with the separate connector coming out of the ignition switch are for the 'key in the ignition' bell/buzzer, so they have no bearing on the car's operation. There should be two wires somewhere on the car's side that attach to these.
What size are the leftover wires on the car's size? A few of the large wires that go to the ignition switch have a smaller wire on the same connector.
FWIW if your '77 has the alternator on the driver's side, then the wiring diagram for the '78 should be nearly the same as your car. If it's on the passenger side then the 75-76 wiring diagram should be more correct.

iirc they were in the neighborhood of 14-16awg? not huge not tiny.
I do have the alternator on the driver's side. The 78 diagram should help clarify some things then.
