Tar/rubber removal

So I bit the bullet and spent several hours with chissel and hammer in hand chiseling out all the tar/rubber on the floor of my 1981 Fiat. But my only problem is that being here in AZ where it is nice and hot the tar was soft so it didn't come out very well. I now have a lot a little smudges and pieces of rubber still attached to the floor of the car. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get ALL the tar off? I was thinking of using a wire grinding wheel and something of sorts.

Thanks in advance!

This is tough at this time of year unless you go to flag and do it at 4 am. I wire wheel will just smear it around. Could try mineral spirits, let it soak and go at it with a putty knife and rag.
