75' Restoration

Finally started on the restoration! (Had a setback due to hubby restoring 61 Landcruiser for our son.) We just pulled the motor and transmission and took to Mark. Now we're prepping the engine bay and trunk for paint. Does anyone recommend a type of undercoating for under the spare? Thinking of using truck bed liner spray. Will try to post pictures soon.

Wow, you guys are pretty serious! I'd paint the trunk the same color as the car, that is how it was.
You might want to remove th Burke fluid reservoir (you can suck the fluid out with a syringe) as there is often rust behind it.

[img][/img]Here are some more pictures of the completed trunk. We painted the spare tire area with black truck bed liner, installed the new fuel tank, sending unit and electric fuel pump and replaced all the hoses. We then put 1" foam strip around the edge to hopefully keep the 1/2" plywood from rattling. There are 2" angle brackets with heavy duty velcro to hold the wood sides up. We put a flat plate under the battery tray and a 6" piece of angle below the trunk latch so we could have the seam of the plywood in the middle.

Hubby picked up the rebuilt motor from Allison Automotive! The transmission was in good shape, it only needed a couple of seals due to my excellent driving. Hoping to get it installed this weekend.

Great job, I also like the idea of side panels. Got to do that on mine!
A few years back I changed the alternator, Marelli to a Boosh. Forgot to take the old Marelli out of the trunk for a few days...I guess that sucker rolls real EZ back there when cornering.
Strange dent when it originates from the inside.

Csaba, we did end up painting the trunk blue above the spare tire area and removed the reservoir from the engine compartment before we painted.
btoran and spiderdan, so far the wood side panels in the trunk are staying put with the velcro. Although, the car hasn't been driven yet. Will let you know in about a year (hopefully less) how it holds up once on the road.

We got a few more things done this weekend. 1) Installed the sway bar with new bushings. 2) Finished installing the new steering linkage. 3) Torqued down the new A arms. 4) Updated our stock 4-1 exhaust to a 4-2-1 2" system with 1 resonator and 1 muffler. 5) Made a top adjusting bracket and modified our bottom bracket to go with our new 95 amp alternator we got from Mark. 6) Finished filling the transmission with 90W GL-1 mineral oil we got from NAPA.
