Greetings. I've been able to find answers to all my other questions by searching the archives; such a great resource.
I have an '83 that recently let me down due to filthy contacts at the fuel pump. I cleaned those up and it's running again, but I want to clean up the body end of the ground wire too. my left taillight assembly has four very small mounting studs, nothing that looks like it has ever had a ground attached. Am I missing another stud nearby?
There IS a ground stud on the wheel well just forward of the fuel neck, with two crimp rings each connecting two wires. Might my fuel pump ground be in there? The colour on one of the wires looks right as far as my colourblind eye can tell.
Thanks,
Larry

Re: 1983 fuel pump ground
on my 81 it is grounded to the top stud of the 4 that hold the taillight assembly in... closest to the center of the car... It is 2 wires a black and blalck/white wire with 2 crimp rings .... but I also can not find the grounding stud you have ... so my uneducated guess would be that you are correct and have found what you are looking for on that stud .... do you have a meter that checks continuity ... you can make a jumper and check to be sure

I found the taillight ground on my 80 to be problematic, so i made a separate chassis ground. Sounds like your PO did the same thing. I also grounded the fuel pump separately with a short wire that is grounded right next to the pump.

Thanks for the quick replies! I'll run the continuity check if someone doesn't confirm or deny; hoping to save another trip underneath. Not so spry any more.
And the stud on the wheelwell must be factory, because I see one just the same in an '84. There's no sign of anything ever having been attached to the taillight stud.
