New member from Boise, Idaho
What seems like a lifetime ago, a gentleman friend gifted me with a 81 Spider 2000 Golden Edition. I was young and didn't realize what a gem it was. Curious as to how many of these are still out there. I loved driving this car, loved everything about it. Sleek style, the way it handled the road. Didn't like the electrical problems and after 3 fuel pumps and it still wasn't running I lost interest. Brought her home from Lomas Import Repair, rolled her off the trailer, put a tarp over her and she has sat out in a field for to many years. I would love nothing more than to restore and drive her again. Maybe I'm just looking to relive an old memory. I also have a "78" I think it is. May be just a parts car. Another story! I was tripping down memory lane looking for enthusiasts in my area. Said I had to register to post. That led to this.

So do it. Easy to work on, easy to fix. So long as the rust devil hasn't attacked it.
Let's see some pictures.
One way or the other you need to deal with the car. Invest some $ and get it back on the road, or sell it off for whatever it might be worth, which could be anywhere from $10 to a few thousand.
Whatever, there are folks on here that can help the process.

Re: New member from Boise, Idaho
Hi,
Texsardo here, living and semi-thriving in Post Falls, Idaho.
I retired from US AirForce from Mountain Home AFB, so I visited Boise for most of my entertainment and shopping. Back in early 90s Mountain Home was excited because K- Mart was thinking of building there. For Boise it was shopping at big time SHOPKO.
Personally, I liked the area. Retire from there in 94, lived with Italian wife in Italy for 13 years then moved back to Idaho in 2007.
OK, basics done. I bought a 1978 124 Spider,1800 a few months ago. Way back previous owner did a lot of dumb things with this car ( like removing back up switch at transmission and replacing with simply a bolt, took days to figure out why my reverse tail lights did not work) and the last owner bought it and let it sit about 3 years. But at least there is less than minimal rust. Red with black interior and canvas top. Engine is in excellent condition, runs very strong. But of course brakes were crap and had bad front wheel bearings. I have replaced calipers, pads, brake lines and now I am finishing up replacing front wheel bearings. Probaly finish by Monday. Since there was no reverse switch I had to order on from Autoricambi.us plus make a wiring harness to go from new switch to wires behind upper console.
That is the reaso I bought the car, to have something to do. . I'm 62 tomorrow.
Glad to see another Spider fan in Idaho. Only met one other owner and he lives close by in Hayden. He knows of a few others in the area.
This website group have clubs all over but nothing, close to us in Idaho.
I am intersted in getting a group from North and South Idaho to have a meet maybe in McCall, Idaho.
So if you find any others, tell them to join the forum
Hope we can meet up one day. Again welcome to the group. Any tech guestions, you will find a huge database of info here.
Any idea what you will do with your 78? Is it driveable?
Texsardo

There are a few fiats around Spokane. Might be a lot easier to organize something there rather than McCall. Although, I road trip taking the back roads to McCall would be fun.
