Temperature gauge is reversed and fuse has blown.

Post by Fiatracertracer »

My temp gauge indicator points to the opposite side and the fuse blew.

Last night I removed the instrument cluster to get at the transmission cable to see if it was disconnected and I discovered that the cable had snapped at the tip... so I guess a new cable is on my list of to do items.

But here is the reason why I created this post, after reinstalling the instrument cluster, the temperature gauge is reading in the reverse, the gauge reads from the right to left instead of from left to right.

Also a fuse blew. The first fuse on the right has blown.

Has anyone experienced this issue before? And how can I fix it?

OK.... I'll try that later, thank you.

I also wanted to mention that the battery light is dim now when the key is turned on, it used to be bright red and it goes out completely when the engine starts.

Light should go out when started  As far as being dim I'm not sure :? Replace the fuse as well

The gauge has a 4 pin connector on it. Do the pins on the gauge side and the car side of the connector look good and is the connector properly mating. Also there is a single wire ground push on connection near the dash light bulb in the temp gauge. Is that ground tight and in place???
Blown fuse is power for the gauges and warning indicator lights.

My first thought is the power and ground are reversed. that would make the gage operate backward and would blow a fuse with the light on.

azruss could be. I was assuming he only pulled the dash panel out of dash, not that he disconnected wires.

It is a neat challenge trying to trouble shoot with out having the car to look at or make tests on yourself.
