I was trying to help a friend with a couple car problems. First the passenger side window moves up very slow. Sometimes you have to pull it up while someone is operating the switch. I removed the door panel lubed the tracks and rollers. Ran the motor both ways from the battery with jumper wires and the window moved acceptable in both directions. I removed the fuses and cleaned them. That helped a little in that you no longer have to pull on the window to get it to go up. Going up is still slow compared to the drivers side. I would like to check the switch but not sure how the assembly comes out of the center console.
Second issue is PO installed a head light switch below instrument cluster. How does one remove the original head/parking light switch from the steering column.
Thanks

Take the PW switch apart and clean the contacts, that should help with window speed.
To remove the column switch you have to remove the steering wheel. It's held on with a 24mm nut.

Do the electric window switches simply pull out of the black section of the console or does the entire black section of the center console need to be removed from the wood colored panel.

Re: 84 Pinna 2000
Also note they were ALWAYS slow, even when new. Slow and somewhat noisy. The motors take entirely too much power relative to the job they are being asked to do and the wiring through the door to the central switches and relays, etc., is just stupidly done. If they work at all you should feel great about them.
In other words, don't overdiagnose them, they work well when the rest of the electrical system is working well (e.g. grounds and limited corrosion) but don't expect a modern experience.

Thanks I know their speed is slower than most. This car the passenger side window is slower than the drivers side going up only. I was thinking of swapping switches but was not shure how to remove the switches from the panel.

Re: 84 Pinna 2000
on this topic, has anybody come across a modern motor transplant that is lighter (any maybe slightly quicker)?
Cheers David

Re: 84 Pinna 2000
I had an '82 AT with electric windows. Seems to me the switches were barely in the console. I believe they have spring clips on both sides that snap out behind the face of the console when the switch is pushed into place. I would try a VERY THIN, narrow piece of metal down along one side starting high then getting to the center of the side of the switch. this may scratch or tear something. Probably the correct way to do it is to get behind the whole mess and squeeze the spring clips together then push out.

You can pull them out with your fingernails. Very barely installed in there.

Re: 84 Pinna 2000
Thanks for the input. I thought they might just pull out and started to but got nervous I might break something. If it were my car I would not had been as cautious. It is a friends car and I didn't want to hurt anything.
Thanks again
