Tail light

Post by nonmilagno »

I'd like to replace the sae 67 bulb in the tail light of my 80FI for additional brightness. I've already cleaned connections, no help with brightness.

Can anyone suggest a specific bulb for replacing the sae 67?

Anyone tried an LED for this? Would I need a load resistor?

Thanks.

check with Daniel Stern Lighting. He has recommendations for Honda bulbs that work really well.

Hey - before swapping bulbs in/out, have you cleaned up the entire fixture. I'm a sucker for LED bulbs - heck I run LED headlights - but I've found the best tail light "fix" is to clean the fittings well, and scrub those lenses clean (I normally dishwasher mine ...... Generally when my wife is out :) :)

I put the old dishwasher in the garage to resolve that. It also serves as backup for when we have large gatherings and extra dishware to be cleaned. Makes a nifty parts washer too,

Here is a direct replacement for the 67 bulb: http://www.bulbtown.com/97_Miniature_Bu ... e_p/97.htm
It is a 9.3 watt bulb, as opposed to the 7.965 watts the 67 bulb is rated at.
It will be a little brighter, by about 17%.

I found a reasonable solution today. After a bit of looking at the auto parts store I found a Sylvania (Osram) 5008 bulb. It's rated at 13.5 volts and 10 watts with a nickle-plated (?) base. $5 for a pair. Took them home a tried them. Much brighter than the crusty old #67 bulbs that were mounted.

Thanks for everyone's input.
