Hi there,
the stater in my Piccolina works most of the times - but especially with a hot engine, it has the tendency just to click and do nothing. After 3-8 tries it works fine. Battery is brand new.
As I have a spare starter in my garage that I did pick from a running 132 ~12 years ago I would like to restore this spare one before I install it. But what needs to be done? Disassembling looks rather easy but what needs to be replaced? Just the brushes? I think some lubes would be fine, too - in the solenoid? Are there any adjustments to be made (solenoid fork?)
Thanks for all advices!
ciao,
Stefan

Tappy, I'd take it to a place that rebuilds starters. It's not that expensive and they'll know what needs to be replaced.

I'm not Tappy - even also he is a nice chap - and as the rebuilders don't charge that much I think they do not exchange and work on them too much - and this is what I want to know....

Re: How to rebuild the starter?
Sorry about the confusion on your name! I have my good days and bad. I would at least take extra starter and see if they can test it. I've had very good luck with my rebuilder on starters and alternators. He doesn't make a fuss even when I bring parts from my Yanmar tractor!
