Inspired by dad
Hi I'm kevin from reading pa. I just recently picked up a 78 with 39k supposedly original miles (you never really know with old cars). I had been looking for a little old sports car for a while and a combination of things drew me to the fiat. 1 I'm 6'2" so that kina blows out the English stuff , don't fit in a spitfire etc... But the biggest thing was my dad had one when he married my mom in his 20's and always said it was the most fun car he had ever owned. He had the intake from the car on the wall in his shop and talked about it like it was automotive artwork and it left a big impression on me. I've owed old cars before, multiple 60's mustangs but never an Italian car, so I'm glad I found this forum and thx in advance for the help!

Re: Inspired by dad
Welcome to the Forum Kevin, I'm sure you'll enjoy driving and fettling your 'new' Spider. Your father's keen eye for automotive component design is shared by many Fiat owners. One of my favourite components are the early model's door handles, which are beautifully delicate, yet absolutely functional - if I had a spare, I'd hang in the workshop too
Unfortunately, some of the Spider's purity of line was spoiled over the years by U.S. safety legislation and, in my opinion, poorly designed and executed quick fixes. Bumpers, side-lights and ride heights are my pet hates, but thankfully with a little bit of work they're easy enough to reverse.

Kevin, Good luck with your Spider. You live in a great part of the country to enjoy the car. I spent some time in Kutztown and lived in Limerick PA right off 422 for a lot of years. Had a red 83 that I would sling around on route 662. Loved the PA country roads.
Buon giro a tutti! - enjoy the ride!
