Re: Important grounds?
I would suggest starting with the ground pods on the right and left fender, under the dash and in the trunk by the drivers side wheel well. Then move to your grounding straps engine/transmission and battery cable. After those items I'd start cleaning up connectors. Most likely you have several weak points increasing resistance.
Buon giro a tutti! - enjoy the ride!

Re: Important grounds?
I have started with the relays using the Optronics Universal 40 Amp relays that sell at Advance Auto Parts for $4.99.
The Fiat wiring really was not sufficient for the solenoid that pulls in the starter drive gear on a 2kw diesel starter. Right now I have a relay for the starter solenoid and another for the diesel fuel valve however I did not get them in soon enough to save the starter which is about to give up the ghost.
Rebuilt lifetime starter from Oreilly's will be here in the morning. The unit for the little 1.8L 4 cylinder diesel is about the same size as a gear reduction starter from a big block (440 cu in) high compression V8.
