Automatic transmission

I hope I am posting this in the right place. I just bought another fiat spider. I bought my first one in 1970 and loved it so much I just hade to have another one. My question is abouth the automatic. I really didn't want an automatic but I got a nice low milage one for a good price. I am having trouble finding any information about this transmission. Any information would be appreciated. It is woring well nowbut I would just like to know who made it and if parts are still availabe. Someone told me it might be american. I think the 5 speed is ZF but I have no idea what the source of the automatic is. Thanx Bill Carter 1984 pininfarina

the tranny is a GM TH 180, the same as used in the Chevette and some other small cars. It's pretty reliable and parts are still available although not as plentiful as they used to be
