Hi, I am in the process of installing a Veglia oil pressure gauge as an additional gauge into my 77 Spider. Not having the sensor, I purchased one from Hong Kong on eBay. It is a two terminal one, one lead for the pressure, one for the low pressure light. When I checked the gauge on the bench, maximum resistance gave the lowest pressure reading and the lowest resistance gave the highest pressure reading. It is well made and the price was acceptable.
However, the pressure sensor works the opposite way, max resistance, max pressure and minimum resistance, lowest pressure and low pressure light on. In the car, when the ignition is switched on, the gauge goes full scale and the light comes on. Once the engine is running, the gauge shows around mid reading and the low pressure light goes out. When the car is revved, the gauge needle moves to the left, all back-to-front.
Is this normal for the Veglia gauges and matching sensors or do I have the wiring incorrect? I cannot see the wiring being wrong, otherwise a short would occur. If this is the case then I need to purchase a sensor specific to the Veglia.
Thanks, in anticipation,
Oil Pressure Sensor

Re: Oil Pressure Sensor
you need a veglia sensor, or even russian one for lada.
they come in several versions, all interchangable. as far as i know, none have gauge sender and warning light in same unit

lada part is naturally A LOT cheaper, yet it works.

Re: Oil Pressure Sensor
Thanks for the information and the websites. I will certainly check them out. Some prices are very high for such a simple item. The Lada ones may be the ones to look at.
My Spider came into Australia in 1988 and would have been converted to right hand drive here. Who knows what parts are original??

Re: Oil Pressure Sensor
They deleted the oil pressure gauge (and made a bunch of other changes) in the middle of the 1977 model year.Nanonevol wrote:My '77 has one as original equipment I'm sure.
