Chinese carb throttle attachment to "ball"

With help from some very helpful forum members, I have determined that my carburetor is of unknown provenance, not Weber 34 ADF, possibly a "frankenstein monster" of parts, and simply does not belong in my Spider. I have taken the plunge and installed a new Chinese 34 ADF "clone". So far, the install has gone smoothly, but I ran into one small, but important, problem.

On my old "Frankenstein" carburetor, the cable from the gas pedal had a "knuckle" on the end (See "A") which was held to the throttle by a forked connection. The new "legit" carb has a ball joint ("B"), but I cannot see how to attach the cable.

Am I missing a part here? What is the mating attachment?

I'm not sure the linkage on a 75, but on my 74 the throttle linkage is a series of rods. The rods have holes that fit over that ball and a sliding clip that fits behind it to hold it in place. You can see the linkage in the picture below.

It looks like your carb is set up for that kind of attachment.

Unfortunately, on my 75 (which, as history has shown, may not be like its contemporaries) doesn't have this linkage setup. It might have at some point...

Does anyone know if there is a generic, or "universal" attachment mechanism I can get from a parts store, or a Weber-specific fitting? I've seen "carburetor throttle ball" joints, but I'm not sure what to get and if it would be sufficient.

I had a similar issue on my 1975, although I knew my existing carb was a weber 32 adf and the new one was the chinese 34 adf. rather than messing with different connectors, I moved the connection "stuff" (a technical term, I know), from the old carb to new one and used the existing "knuckle". not sure if the parts will interchange from your franken-carb to the Chinese adf, though.

Btoran, I had that exact idea at work today - use the linkage parts from the old with the new. I'm glad that it worked out for you and my idea wasn't crazy.

Btoran, I tried to get the old wire holder spool thing off the old carb and I just cannot figure out (or muscle out) how to get it off! It doesn't look like the bolt in the middle is actually holding it in place, but it might be. How did you do it? Remove the bolt? Friction fit? "Unwind" the whole thing from some threaded rod I can't see?

Stuart - it's tough to see from your picture, but there is a nut in there you need to remove, then that spool thingie will slide off. It was tough for me to remove that nut too. If I remember, it needed an odd sized, thin walled socket with an extension. Once you have everything reassembled on the new carb, note that you can "adjust" the tension on the throttle cable depending on how tight or loose you wind the spring. It may take one or two tries until it's right. Also, not sure if I replied to an earlier post of yours or someone else about the Chinese adf. I could not tune it with the supplied jets. I temporarily used the Jets from my old carb and bought a proper jet "kit". It's runs a bit rich with my old jets, but I have yet to install the new jets. Will do that at the very end of the season here. With Temps forecast for around 70 in NY for the next few weeks, there's no way I'm taking the car off the road now.

Bruce, I guess all it needed was a little time. After spraying WD40 and sitting overnight, the nut popped right off this morning!

As for the jets, if I'm not happy with the ones in the China carb (which are apparently not documented), I'm hoping I can use the ones from the old Frankencarb.

Like you, in Cleveland, we got reprise from the weather, so I'm hoping to get it into the new China carb and get another day or two of driving in before Winter.
