Finding 124 Spider

Post by Manfred »

I know this is a long shot, but maybe someone out there has some information or can help me find a car I owned in 1973, 74.

In 1973 I bought a used 1970 to 72 Fiat 124 Spider in Fullerton, California It was the first car that I ever owned and I think I was the 2nd owner of the car. It was red with black interior and was absolutely my favorite most enjoyable handling car I have ever owned. I was recently thinking about getting another 124 Spider or possibly finding the original – probably a long shot, because I no longer have the VIN or even the old license number. Does anybody have any ideas about retrieving records from that period to locate a previously owned car or have any information that can lead to any information about this car. It”s nice to see others that appreciate and enjoy these cars as much as I did. Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Manfred Nagel

only thing you can do if you don't have the info is ask around like you are. give your name (like you did) and hopefully someone will spot that on an old title or something.

Some other ideas that might actually produce better results....
1. Contact the insurance company you had at the time. they have the VIN.
2. Contact the person you sold it to (if it was a dealership they most likely have the VIN and buyer info)
3. Buy a similar one and just live with that!

you might be disappointed if you were able to find the original car. Kind of like going to your 30 yr reunion and hoping the Homecoming Queen still looks the same

Good ideas.....I already called the DMV, but can't help without license or VIN. I did get a few speeding tickets, 2 at the same spot going north on Harbor blvd. coming out of Newport Beach at PCH. That little red 124 got a lot of attention, not all appreciated at the time. I traded the car in 75 at a pontiac dealership on Harbor Blvd. in CM, so maybe I can try to get some info there. I don't think the courts keep traffic ticket info that long.
If I can't find the original I will shopping for another 71-81 124 Spider.
Thanks
